But when it comes to food shopping I have become lazy in the money saving department. Clipping coupons has just become way too time-consuming. Looking at the different store circulars and planning out the best deals for different products takes time that I do not have these days. But it has hurt our grocery budget. Until recently.
I must admit, these new discoveries have made me a bit giddy. Come on, saving money is exciting, right?
Make me feel better, folks. Cause getting excited over these things has me a bit concerned.
Just in case you were finding it hard to make time to get some great savings on your grocery and household items, I thought I would share my new-found apps with you. Try them out, save some money… and come back here to report how much you have saved!!
Grocery Store Apps
A few months ago Rebecca told us why she LOVES the Cartwheel app from Target, and I have to agree. I save a good deal of money with that app. But I have also downloaded apps from my local grocery stores and Walmart. It helps me to find deals I can use, download coupons on to my rewards cards and compile shopping lists. So checkout the apps for your local grocery store. And then, you can combine them for even more savings with these apps:
Ibotta
This is the app I am most familiar with and there is a lot of potential for money saving here. You unlock discounts by taking a 2 sec quiz or watching a 15 sec video. Then you purchase the item, scan the item, scan your receipt… and earn money. You also earn bonuses for buying multiple products or adding members to your team. And the money can go onto a gift card or into your paypal account. So get actual cash, or feed your Starbucks or iTunes addiction. It’s up to you! Click here to sign-up!
Shopkick
This app rewards you not only for buying but for simply walking your happy tushie into certain stores! You also get points for simply scanning products at the store. Again, this app rewards you for sharing it with your friends. Redeem rewards for gift cards from a large selection of retailers like Target, Lowes, and Old Navy. Click here to add this app and start getting rewards!
Shrink
This app is limited in the items that you can redeem for rewards, they actually ask you to “reserve” the reward and only a limited number of users can redeem it. BUT sometimes the rewards on this app are the same as other apps, meaning you can save multiple times on the same item. With Shrink you go to the app, reserve the product, buy the product, scan the product, scan the receipt and receive your reward. The cash out options on this app go to your paypal account once you have accumulated $20. Here is a link to sign-up!
BerryCart
This app is similar to Ibotta in that you buy, scan product, and scan receipt. The biggest difference is that it focuses on healthy foods, lots of organic items. There are also rewards for sharing with your friends and you can choose a pay pal cash out or pick from retailers like JCPenney, Wal-mart and Gap. Happy healthy eating… and saving! You can download it here!
Ebates
I would be remiss to leave out my very favorite money saving app. Now, of course, I use this for more than grocery or household items, although I have been known to have household items shipped to our house because it is saving me money (and time, let’s face it) to order them through Ebates. If you are doing any shopping online and are NOT using this service, you are losing money. I have saved about $400 with this website (it is also an app on your phone) on a variety of things like: travel, photos, christmas cards, gifts, electronics, domain names… you name it, there is a retailer participating! Once every quarter you receive a check in the mail. You are also rewarded for sharing with your friends, and the rewards are pretty impressive. Do not pass go… click here now to sign-up and start saving today!
Would love to hear how much YOU have saved using these apps… and, if you have another one to share with me, by all means SHARE! I am getting giddy just thinking about it!
