Like many people that have lost a large amount of weight in a relatively short period of time, I have what I (at times) consider to be a mental disorder. I look in the mirror... and I just don't see the difference. Even in pictures! I discount it as a good angle or just a good picture. My poor husband, Scott, has listened to me for the last year, and been nothing but supportive. He always tells me how good something looks when I come out of the room and ask "Can you tell?" at least 3 times a week!

Nighttime and I don't get along. It's really a love hate relationship with bedtime. My anxiety kicks in when I'm left alone in the dark and quiet. But in the same breath, that's when my best thoughts and words are created.
When I wake up in the morning, it's usually by one of my kids announcing that they are hungry. Then the next one chimes in and I'm awake, usually against my will, to make breakfast or at least reach the bowl out of the cabinet and the jug of milk is still too full for them to pour without dumping the whole gallon on the floor. I say against my will because I stayed up half the night trying to shut my brain off and I'd love to be able to sleep past seven. But, my day is started and I've got things to do, like most mom's and dads. by: Scott Blanchett
In early March of 2014 I had to have blepharoplasty surgery on my eyes. This is also known as an eye lift. Since starting Plexus I had lost so much weight, particularly in my face, that my eye lids were starting to droop over my eyes. While the procedure was quick and simple, the bruising was dramatic. It looked like I had been in a bar fight. Two black eyes with stitches is not the best look in the world. My parents had stayed with the kids while my wife Leslie drove me to the surgery. They got to see me about 2 hours after the surgery so they got to see the bruising early. The next day the when my mother texted me asking how my eyes were doing, my only way of telling her was to show her with a selfie of my eyes. by Steven Alwine
Golf has a problem. I mean, besides that it's expensive and time-consuming; it’s playing and viewing population is aging; and its most prestigious tournaments are turning into acts of sadism on the part of course managers in an effort to keep today's professionals from running roughshod over it. This course difficulty and distance creep affects ordinary courses and players, affecting pace and pleasure of play. It's one thing for golf to be a "good walk spoiled," and another when it takes all of the morning and afternoon and leaves you questioning what you're doing with your time and money. by: Steven Alwine
Doesn't feel very good, does it? For someone to say they're listening to what you say, what you type, and attempting to use that information for their own purposes. I'm not trying to get you to close your browser, or quit the Internet, or unplug from all social media. It is to examine the sorts of reactions that people have to such a revelation. Recently it was disclosed that Facebook spent a week in January of 2012 manipulating the feeds of some 600,000 plus users to see if the emotional content and impact of social media could affect the users themselves. In other words, they wanted to see if our emotional reactions in the realm of social media was the same as the realm of real life. I don't think it takes a rocket surgeon to understand that in real life when people around you feel a certain way, you tend to feel similarly. It's called empathy. The results of the study aren't nearly as interesting as the reaction to it. |
